Tie Dye Couture From Dyed-FX

About Tie Dye Couture ......

We started tie dying in 2003 for children in our neighborhood who could not afford the tie dye being sold at local boutiques. (Including our own children). Boutique style tie dye is very popular but quite expensive. Prior to 2007 we never even advertised for our Tie Dyes. All of our business until now was based on "word of mouth." At the end of each year before the Holidays, we have donated all of our overstock to the hospital where we almost lost our youngest son to bacterial meningitis. We will be forever grateful to them and they know who they are.

Over the years we have contracted with local boutiques and even had our line of Tie Dye in Sak's 5th Avenue. We currently work on all sides of the business from retail to wholesale, fundraisers and for personal use like tie dyes for family photos, reunions etc.

We have also donated to charities such as The Children with Aids Foundation in 2006 where our "basket of Tie Dyes" was auctioned off at The Dream Halloween event in New York City. We are happy to know that the winner of the auction was a cast member of The Soprano's.

As you will see on our website, our Tie Dye is "different" from the "traditional style" tie dyes. We consider our tie dyes "boutique style". We feel that this sets us apart from other tie dye companies as ours can even be worn to work!

Our company only uses Procion dyes. These are commercial dyes - the same dyes that are used to dye all solid color garments. This means that they will not fade over time nor will they bleed in the wash. Yes, that means you can REALLY wash our tie dyes with your other garments - even your whites! Hooray!

Every single tie dye is hand dyed from start to finish by my husband and I. Working with a contract for Sak's 5th Avenue has given us the opportunity not only to learn how to produce massive volume but it has also given us the knowledge on how to be consistent in our work. Large retailers want all of their garments to look alike. They also want to be able to go back to a particular color combination and repeat it months later and they want it to look exactly the same as it did the first time! We have mastered this task as well.

The reason we continue to tie dye is still mainly for the children (we do a lot of volume of womens and mens clothing as well). We love to see the childrens faces when they receive their tie dyes in the colors that they have chosen. From their favorite colors to their school colors to holiday colors like red, white and blue. We have heard time and time again from parents that they can't wash the garments fast enough and the clothes are back on their bodies. Why? Because it is different. Because it was created by them !!

We would like to take the time to THANK all of our customers, old and new, for bringing us to where we are today. We have enjoyed every minute of this experience. Without our customers we would not be able to make all of the donations that we make each year - for the children that sometimes need it the most.

This business originated because of children and we know that it will continue to grow for the children.

Thank you for taking the time to read the "about us" page on our website and we hope that you have a great day !!
